Butternut-Apple Smoothie

Autumn means butternut squashes are popping up everywhere! Have you ever thought of trying butternuts in a smoothie? This smoothie gets its amazing “creaminess” from the butternut squash as well as unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 small apple cored, cut into chunks and frozen
  • 8 ounces unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 cup canned butternut squash puree or 1/2 cup cooked
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil optional
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Dash ginger and nutmeg
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein (such as Ice cubes as desired

Instructions

  • Blend all ingredients except protein powder and ice for about a minute.
  • Add protein powder and blend for another minute.
  • Add ice and blend for another minute or until smoothie is thick and creamy.
