Eat a Better Lunch? Yes You Can!

Begin by checking out MPM’s Lunch Favorites with bunches of yummy ‘n healthy recipes! If you made a New Year’s resolution to “clean up your food act,” how are you doing? Did you start out like gangbusters, only to fall prey by March to too many breakfast goodies, fast food lunches, afternoon snack attacks, happy hours and late night munchies? Still looking in the mirror wondering if you’ll ever lose that tummy before summer?

My spin on New Year’s diet resolutions is this: don’t make ’em, cuz’ 10-to-1 you’ll break ’em!

Let me share a little MPM wisdom here… It’s what you do most days of the year that matters most. So instead of declaring on every January 1st an all-out war against treating yourself to an afternoon meal with friends or relying on the same boring “diet” lunches at home or at work, why not take my more practical lifestyle approach? Ya gotta admit, it’s a lot more delicious and fun, right?

I could talk all day about the subject of food deprivation and how it can trip up the best clean-eating intentions. Whether or not you have lunch at home, the key to not giving into too many calorie and fat- laden choices, is to make an enjoyable, yet healthy lunch most days of the week. This means promising yourself not to constantly rely on typical “ho-hum” foods (like deli sandwiches, cheese sticks and an empty calorie but oh- so- easy to grab “100 calorie” snack) that may cause you to ditch your lunch and gorge too often on processed supermarket foods or quick and convenient take-out lunches.

It’s all about making clean ‘n healthy choices and MPM’s Lunch Favorites can help. In this collection, you will find enticing selections such as Greek Isles Grilled Chicken Salad, Granola-Berry Yogurt Parfaits, Roasted Veggie Pizza, Herb-Crusted Salmon Salad, Signature Frittata, Mini Fruit Kabobs, Edamame Hummus, Homemade Crispy Pita Chips, Honey-Kissed Apple Snack Cake, Confetti Turkey Chili and many more!

Need super-quick lunches for work? Don’t miss MPM’s favorite Brown Bag Lunches!

Soooooo if you eat smart lunches most days…. then when you’re invited to celebrate a friend or co-worker’s birthday pizza lunch, you can choose to indulge without guilt. Why? Because you made the choice for the rest of the week to eat a healthy lunch at home or work or eat out intelligently by ordering something like a salad with grilled chicken or shrimp. Of course, you may just decide to forgo the pizza and order a salad instead. After all, it’s having a good time with friends and family that counts, not the food!

More good news! This collection also features several dinner dishes that “pull double-duty” by making enough leftovers for lunch, tasty salad options and even some healthy goodies for dessert!

Even if you’re a minimalist when it comes to your lunch choices, I guarantee you’ll find a bunch in this collection that work.

Don’t always have time to prepare a homemade lunch? No worries as MPM has you covered with this helpful list of healthier supermarket convenience meals.

So just pick a few, make your shopping list and wave bye-bye to unhealthy (and often boring) lunches!

With Meal Planning Maven’s fun ‘n healthy lunches, fast food takes on a whole new meaning. If you make an effort to adopt some of these simple suggestions, you will look forward to wearing your spring clothes. You will also be very proud of yourself for learning to incorporate these helpful tools into your lunchtime routine.

Maintaining a healthy eating routine takes commitment as we struggle to balance our time between work, family and personal obligations. These are small but very important steps towards forging a path to a lifetime of healthy eating without deprivation.
